New Member Added - Lee from Rae Baby

I am a stay at home mum of three beautiful girls aged 3, 2 and 7 months.  I have recently opened Rae Baby, an online shop, selling designer infant and children's clothing with a focus on organic fabrics, fair trade, and style!  I am a teacher by trade but wanted to spend the preschool years with my children so embarked on the journey of starting my own business and hence www.raebaby.co.nz was born.  There have been a lot of learning curves and apprehension along the way, as there is with any risk, but I have always wanted to do something for myself and being on maternity leave has given me that opportunity.
My company is based on the belief that here in New Zealand we should have the same access to products available anywhere else in the world. We source products from various countries to ensure that we follow international trends whilst supplying quality, enduring clothing and accessories for infants and children.

New Member Added - Trudie from LoveLoops

Created by a Mother, Formed by Master Craftsmen...

Facebook Page: LoveLoops

When I was pregnant with my second child I began thinking of a way to outwardly symbolise my love for my children. Many people today purchase jewellery to mark the birth of a child and the incredible love they feel for them, but I wanted something that would more personally represent my daughters and my bond with them. I had a scout around the Internet and could not find any quality jewellery that met my needs. Slowly an idea began to form, and when my youngest was about four months old I scribbled down my idea and approached a manufacturing jeweler to have the first LoveLoops made. My plan was to see what kind of reaction my own Loops received from other Mums, and then perhaps to develop, brand and market my gorgeous product... and well here we are!

It is important to me that LoveLoops are top quality, a real piece of jewellery, and that's why I have them crafted by a Master Manufacturing Jeweller in solid Sterling Silver and solid 9ct Gold. It took some time to find an engraver who could put up with my fussy perfectionism. The engraving is done by computer, but with quite a lot of human input, as it is rather tricky to get the curve exactly right.
The symbolism of the Loop really is perfect for representing the love and the bond between mother and child. It carries forth from the connection we have in the womb; the way Mother and Child are linked in the womb is represented by the way the LoveLoop encircles and links directly over the chain. The Loop also represents the circle of life, the bringing into the world of a new generation. The Loop has no beginning and no end, but goes on forever like the love we feel for our child whose name is inscribed on the Loop. The symbolism of the Loop is deeply meaningful, which makes LoveLoops feel, as well as look, brilliant to wear.

New Member Added - Melina from Melina Baby (Auckland)

Hi my name is Melina. I am a WAHM to 18month old Malaika. I love being a WAHM because I get to spend my days with the most incredible little girl in the world who brings me so much happiness. I do my sewing and cutting when she is sleeping.

I started making reversible pinafore dresses because I found it really hard to find dresses for Malaika when she was crawling that didn't get in her way, these dresses are the perfect length. Also I didn't want to have to carry masses of changes of clothing. When we go out and she gets mucky but we have somewhere else to go I can just flip the dress inside out and it's like she's wearing a new outfit.

With my cloth nappies I had bought every nappy on the market and there was always something that wasn't quite right so I created my own which fit teeny tiny babies and also very large babies without being bulky. I love cloth! A clothesline full of cloth nappies and little dresses is one of my favourite scenes. :)

I learnt to sew from my mother who was a seamstress and sewing teacher. She had her own factory which I used to sneak into as a child and take little scraps of fabric and needles so I could sew my dolls things. She decided to teach me to sew at the age of 4 because she figured if she didn't teach me properly then I was more likely to hurt myself. My dolls were the best dressed and now my baby is. I love sewing and creating so much!
